Welcome to Suicide Attempt Survivors!

Approximately 30,000 people die every year from suicide There are twice as many deaths from suicide than HIV/AIDS. However, there are many people whose suicide attempts are not completed. They are often left alone and ashamed. Even in the Mental Health Community this is a topic that is not discussed very often.

This is a place for all of those whose suicide attempt was not completed. It is a safe place to share our thoughts and feelings about our personal struggles, challenges, and successes We can talk freely about why we attempted suicide without being afraid.

Are We elephants?

For Me it was a relief to finally find support for Attempt Survivors, not those "left behind." I could only find one book in our entire state library system on the subject. It was called Children of Jonah, I don't remember the author. All the in-person support groups in my area are for family/friends of the Deceased Suicidal Person. A practical questions about scars...

My attempt was on February 28, 2011, so the scars on my arms are still fresh. Doctor said to keep them out of the sun. Problem is, it is finally getting warm in my area. I can't spend all summer in long sleeves. Anyone have a suggestion?

    Well I'm out of the crisis stabilization unit and I feel so much better. It was a great experience and I feel much more calm and stable. This is going to be a lifelong process and journey which is so frustrating but all I can do is try to move forward. I hope this post finds all of you well and I am here for all of you. See More

    Trying to find the light again

    My friends, I hope all of you have been doing well. I haven't been on here but I have kept you all in my prayers and thoughts. Life has thrown some very traumatic, ugly things at me since my last post and it's all I can do to open my eyes each day. I am truly over the edge and attempted again this evening.
